Guitarist, vocalist, composer, professor, audio engineer — Zack Devine is the rare musician for whom serious artistry and serious craft are the same thing. The founder of Gypsy Modern, and the voice at the center of it.
The Musician
Zack Devine is a guitarist, vocalist, composer, and educator from Philadelphia, PA — active as both a performing artist and a teacher, regularly playing Philadelphia and surrounding areas as both a bandleader and a sideman. He is stylistically multi-faceted, moving fluently from jazz to Americana to rock and beyond, and is a multi-instrumentalist whose range spans strings, woodwinds, and percussion.
At the foundation of everything Devine does is an extensive music theory background — the kind that allows him to compose with intention, teach with precision, and improvise with genuine freedom.
Education & Awards
Devine graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar from Berklee College of Music. In 2020, he earned a Master's Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Arts, where he was awarded the President's Award for Excellence in Creative Practice for his conceptual programmatic graduate recital.

Secret Garden
That graduate recital became something larger. Devine collaborated with some of Philadelphia's finest musicians, forming a septet — and in 2021 released the studio album Secret Garden, handling every technical aspect himself: recording, mixing, mastering, and producing the entire album independently.
